  The Lowdown
I was born and raised in Opelousas, Louisiana. I hope that this excites you as much as it excites me. If you need more excitement, just tell yourself I was raised by a family of alligators. It's not only interesting, but it may explain somethings about myself. Those alligators sent me to Catholic school and was traumatized by neither nuns nor priests; still, I ended up an atheist, much to the chagrin of Mama Alligator. I was born in 1973 and at the time of this writing am approaching 30. We don't need to talk about that. I currently live in Brooklyn and we can talk about that. I have an education. I have a job. I have all of my teeth and I think all of my hair. Here are some lame photos. I have a child who lives in Louisiana with his mother: His name is Nicholas and he is five at the time of this writing. I guarantee you that he is smarter and better looking and more well-adjusted than your children. (Back to As I Please)

The Blog
I don't know yet. I started out writing rants in early 2001 and emailing them to a large group of folks. I even had a friend of mine posting them to a web site. Then I got lazy and stopped. Then I woke up one day to see that just about everyone had a blog. Poor Ken, always dropping the ball when he's so close to the finish line.

At any rate, I'm not quite sure how I'm going to handle this thing. I will be screaming about politics, but I think, too, that I'll take a James Lileks or Moxie approach and include plenty of personal musings. Hopefully, I can find it in my crusty little heart to be more funny and informational than rabid and informational.

I've enabled comments. Will they work? Who knows? It's free, so I won't complain. I would ask, however, a certain degree of civility. At the same time, note that if and when strangers come wandering in and calling names and screaming, I am not responsible for their views. (Back to As I Please)

Writing
That's supposedly what I do. My day job is something related, but we don't need to get into that. I've completed one novel (unpublished so far) and am working on a second. Have had short stories published and one nominated for the Pushcart (no, I didn't win, ok? fine!). Influences include... ah, who cares, this ain't a Miss America contest. Just go read something other than Harry Potter or The Corrections. (Back to As I Please)

Politics
Easiest way I can describe it is I'm a South Park Republican. Yes, that name comes from the cartoon. To me, that means I'm a gay-ok, pro-choice, not-too-keen-on-the-religious-right Republican. Yes, we do exist. I've also identified as a libertarian before and have voted that way. I'd also like to break myself down according to this Steven Denbeste essay but I'll keep things simple and go with the Republican label for now. And yes, I voted for W. And yes, I plan to do so again. You can also call me a NeoCon if you'd like. Really, I don't mind. (Back to As I Please)

The Links
At some point, I hope to give a rundown of all the links over on the right side of the page. Some bloggers just throw up everything they ever look at, as well as engaging in a "You post mine and I'll post yours" exchange. For now, I've simply linked to a few things I really like and that I actually read every day. There are other things I read everyday, The Drudge Report, National Review Online, Lucianne and others. But the latter two are almost a little two right-wing for my tastes and none of the three need my help as far as readers go. Hell, those listed under "Masters" hardly need my help, but some of my initial reading audience won't be overly familiar with must-read blogs, so there they are. Also, those listed under Masters serve to balance out the news you'll get in papers and on television. (Back to As I Please)

Coding Skills
Obviously I have none; otherwise I wouldn't be doing this odd linking from one Blogger site to another. Also, that'll explain the absence of photos of my fine self. (Well, that and Blogger doesn't support photos).
